Does microneedling hurt?

Most clients feel some mild discomfort as the device passes over the skin, often described as a light scratching sensation. A numbing cream can be applied beforehand to keep you comfortable throughout the treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

Best results are usually achieved with a course of around three treatments, one per month. We'll recommend a plan tailored to your skin and goals at consultation.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime is noticeably short. Your skin may look flushed or feel warm for a day or so afterwards, similar to mild sunburn, and you can typically return to normal activities the next day.

Medical Microneedling takes advantage of the body’s cell regeneration process by causing small dermal trauma whilst leaving the epidermis in between the punctures unharmed.

This procedure stimulates the production of collagen and new cell material. After about three treatments (one per month) the best possible results are obtained – skin structure is improved, and visible scars are diminished.

The Process

When the needle penetrates the skin, this injury causes some localized damage and bleeding by rupturing fine blood vessels. PCI results from the natural response to wounding of the skin. Platelets are automatically released, and the normal process of inflammation commences. This promotes the normal post-traumatic release of growth factors and infiltration of fibroblasts which leads to the production of more collagen and elastin. The collagen is laid down in the upper dermis just below the basal layer of the epidermis.
